92 PRO-FM’s Barbi Jo Shares Her Rhode Island ‘Restaurant Tour’ Takeaways

Rick Simone, the Executive Director of the Federal Hill Commerce Association with 92 PRO-FM personality Barbi Jo.

This past summer, 92 PRO-FM evening personality Barbi Jo decided to social distance…restaurant style. A live broadcast each evening from restaurants throughout the state during her “Restaurant Tour” gave Barbi a chance to try new flavors at fabulous spots all over Rhody (and beyond).

Here are her favorites:

Federal Hill Al Fresco Dining (Providence)

“Cue the Sinatra music, cause I’m QUEEN of The Hill! More than a Rhody staple, Federal Hill is the heart of Providence dining. The new al fresco concept creates a fun and lively atmosphere for patrons and guests strolling about (masked, of course)…even for myself who’s been countless times! From traditional institutions like Venda to new spots like Bacco, the PASTAbilities are endless. Pair your meal with an exceptional glass of wine… heck, order the entire bottle of vino! Trust me, you won’t even mind the self-inflicted AGITA from a carb-overdose!”

Mare Rooftop (Providence)

“It’s what I live for… the city vibe with a breath-taking view and refreshing cocktail… this is Mare Rooftop! Make reservations at sunset and check-out the jaw-dropping Providence skyline! Sip on adult bevys all night, it’s what I do best. After all, you can’t spell Barbi without Bar! Hurry, try the lobster roll special with a twist while it lasts (no messy hot dog buns here)! In my opinion, there’s no better view in PVD!

Thames Waterside (Bristol)

Can we all agree that a meal comes with a summery view at Thames Waterside Restaurant? Yes, yes we can! The deck offers sweeping ocean views of Bristol and my selection of seafood did not last very long! I enjoyed light, fresh and delicious entrees to beat the summer heat!

Plant City (Providence)

If I’m honest, I was a bit skeptic about a plant-based menu. Turns out, I was pleasantly surprised. So many terrific and tasty choices under one roof. I recommend you sit on the Plant City Patio resembling a tropical-city oasis. Start with the filling nachos, then try the Tofu Chicken Sandwich. I know… tofu, right!? Honest, it did not disappoint!

River Falls (Woonsocket)

“Okay, I can be that typical Rhode Islander who only dines at my regular spots. I’m working on that… let’s all work on that and make the ride to River Falls in Woonsocket. It’s worth the drive! Dining on the Blackstone riverfront is so peaceful and lovely. Take in the calm and search the book-sized menu. Took me a solid five minutes to concentrate on the steak, seafood and pasta options. I’m still singing the praises of the colossal burgers and River Falls Tacos filled with BBQ pulled pork. Both made my tummy happy… Just roll me outta there!”
