June 2021 Highlights from the Audubon Society of Rhode Island
Start your summer off right – in the great outdoors! Join an Audubon guide to search for wildlife on the water, learn all about the edible plants found in nature, and discover some of the amazing birds, bats, and insects that thrive in the Ocean State! Audubon offers a variety of programs for every age!
Boats and Birds!
Hope Valley, RI
June 3 and 10, 2021; 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Join Audubon birding expert Laura Carberry and Denise Poyer, formerly from the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association, for a morning of kayaking and birding! Get out on the water and explore Frying Pan Pond in search of wetland birds. Kayaking is the perfect way to explore wetland habitats and search for Cedar Waxwings, Baltimore Orioles, Osprey and more! Register early as the program is limited to 8 people. Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks. Advance registration is required. Depart from the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association, 203B Arcadia Rd, Hope Valley, RI; Fee: $50/member (ASRI or WPWA), $75/non-member. Ages: 12 and up.
Bluebird Walk and Talk
Audubon Caratunk Wildlife Refuge, Seekonk, MA
June 6, 2021; 8:00 – 10:00 am
Join Audubon and discover the beautiful Eastern Bluebirds that call Caratunk home. Learn about their natural history, how to identify them, and more. Enjoy a walk to the field habitat to watch Eastern Bluebirds in action and check out their homes and neighbors. This is an outdoor program so please dress appropriately and bring your binoculars if you have them. Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks. Advance registration is required. Caratunk Wildlife Refuge, 301 Brown Avenue, Seekonk, MA; Fee: $10/member adult, $5/member child; $14/non-member adult, $7/non-member child. Ages: 10 and up. Sea Glass Jewelry Workshop

Come create a beautiful pendant with sea glass found on local beaches. Learn how to choose the right piece of glass and transform it using quick and easy wire wrapping techniques. The program includes all materials. Find something special on the beach? Bring that too! Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks.
