Hot 106’s Bekah Berger takes us on a journey to Newport Vineyards and you’re going to want to add this one to your Rhode Island bucket list.
Unfortunately my friends and I don’t plan on boarding a flight anytime soon….so we did the next best thing: Wine flights at Newport Vineyards. Newport Vineyards is truly an Ocean State gem. If you haven’t been there- add it to your Rhode Island bucket list ASAP. Not only are the grounds truly IG friendly but the good people at NV are taking every precaution to allow you a fine wine time while also making sure that you’re safe.
Right now, due to Covid restrictions, you’ll really need to plan your visit accordingly. Their website has everything mapped out for guests to ensure that all of your questions are answered. I found it really helpful. If you plan on booking your spot for a weekend- make sure you do it the Monday before the weekend you’d like to visit. Tip: They use Open Table for reservations. They open booking at 10am. I personally found that the app worked much better than the Open Table website. My group chat and I (those are the girls I went with) had a fabulous time.
My wine flight included: a cider called the Rhody Coyote-100% local apples, effervescent, crisp, the Bellevue Blush-sweet, wild grape and red berry compote, In the Buff Chardonnay-unoaked, fruit forward, guava, and a wine that went down smoother than it is to say out loud- the Gewürztraminer-floral, honey, lime, tropical (had to Google that one). I highly recommend all four- especially the Bellevue Blush- for my fellow Rosé all day-ers.
Their food menu is the perfect complement to their wine. Our table indulged in some classic tacos and grilled cheese dishes (as my friend Meghan so eloquently put it, “so yummy that I stained my shirt!”). We sipped our afternoon away as our, “bubbly” server Sam made sure we had a wonderful time (also keep in mind that due to current restrictions there is a time limit). Don’t keep your intentions of heading to Newport Vineyards bottled up – grab your, “partners in wine” and reserve your table today!
