Newport. The city that makes me feel happy. I have made so many memories in Newport. I have vacationed here, partied here, married here, and so much more. My love for it is probably sparked by the fact that my parents met here! My dad was stationed in Newport with the US Navy. My mom had taken a ride to the beach with her friend. They met at a place called The Tavern. It is now a real estate agency, but, if those walls could talk! Actually, let me rethink that one.
Over February break, I surprised my daughters with an overnight in Newport. We went with our “pandemic pod”, our dance friends we have spent most of the last 12 months with. We stayed at the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites. The kids had a chance to swim in the pool, and, there was even an outdoor jacuzzi on the roof top. You have to make a reservation for the pool and jacuzzi, but, they keep the time slots short and sweet so that everyone has a chance to swim or relax. Even though it was a snowy night, that didn’t stop anyone from taking a dip in the fizzy bubbling water!
We ate dinner at The Brick Alley Pub, a Newport staple amongst all of the fantastic restaurants Newport has to offer. The kids took home brownie sundaes, so they could eat dessert after a dip in the indoor pool!
The next morning, we had breakfast at The Atlantic Grille, a diner style restaurant with a delicious Bloody Mary on the menu. Then, we took a ride down Ocean Drive, and we even got a glimpse of filming of The Gilded Age TV show! We had so much fun, and can’t wait to go back again! Thanks again, Newport, for new memories!
